Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara

Chenrezig (Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara) is the guardian deity of the snow land Tibet, a central yidam in Tibetan Buddhism and an emanation of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva. He has a pure white body, one face and four arms, wearing a Five-Buddha Crown. His two central hands are joined in anjali mudra, holding a wish-fulfilling mani jewel. His right hand holds a crystal rosary, and his left hand grasps an eight-petaled lotus. He sits upon a lotus and moon disc. Presiding over great compassion, relieving suffering and safeguarding peace, he is the yidam enshrined in nearly every Tibetan household.
