Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara
This miniature thangka is hand-painted by Regong artists and fitted with an exquisitely crafted square gau box carved with interlocking meander patterns for portable wear. It is suitable for art appreciation, collection and styling decoration. Created following traditional thangka painting techniques, the work adopts multi-layered colour application with natural mineral pigments. The main deity Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara sits in full lotus posture, with two hands joined in anjali mudra at the chest and the other two hands each holding a raised lotus. He bears a peaceful and serene countenance, clad in emerald green robes adorned with elaborate and refined ornaments. Manjushri Bodhisattva appears at the lower left of the painting, and Vajrapani Bodhisattva at the lower right. The three figures are arranged in an orderly layout. Surrounded by auspicious clouds and blooming flowers, the painting features rich and full hues as well as fine, fluid lines. The composition is full and magnificent with abundant detailing. The square metal frame is carved with interlocking meander patterns, presenting a solid and refined texture. The entire piece is fully hand-painted. Slight variations in brushwork among individual works are normal characteristics of handcrafted artworks.
