Padmasambhava

Padmasambhava is the founding patriarch of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism and revered as the Second Buddha. He travelled to Tibet in the 8th century, subdued local spirits and deities, founded Samye Monastery, and introduced Esoteric Buddhism to the snowland. He is commonly depicted with one face and two arms, his complexion fair tinged with crimson. Holding a vajra and a kapala, he is believed to vanquish demons and remove obstacles, and safeguard the Dharma. As a great accomplished master, he is respected across all schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
