Six-Armed Mahakala

This miniature thangka is hand-painted by Regong artists using a double-sided hand-painting technique. Wrathful countenances of Dharma protectors with different expressions are depicted on each side. Fitted with an exquisitely crafted gau box for portable wear, it is suitable for art appreciation, collection and styling decoration.
Created in accordance with traditional thangka painting techniques, the main body features a deep blue base layered and shaded with multiple coats of natural mineral pigments. The three eyes on the face have clear outlines, sharp brows and eyes, and the expression carries tremendous intensity. The crown ornaments are paired with fine decorative patterns, and fine hatching lines render rich layers for the hair. Earrings and surrounding decorative motifs are exquisitely detailed. Warm and cool colours create striking contrasts. The painting boasts elaborate and substantial details with a tight, focused composition that delivers powerful visual impact.
The entire piece is fully hand-painted. The patterns on the two sides differ from each other, and slight variations in brushwork among individual works are normal characteristics of handcrafted artworks.
