Six-Armed Mahakala

This miniature thangka is hand-painted by Regong artists and fitted with an exquisitely crafted square gau box for portable wear. It is suitable for art appreciation, collection and styling decoration. Created following traditional thangka painting techniques, the work is painted with multiple layers of natural mineral pigments. The main deity, Six-Armed Mahakala, adopts a wrathful stance with a blue body. Each of his six arms holds a ritual implement. He wears a skull crown with powerful, flowing hair. He tramples upon an auspicious beast, encircled by vibrant orange-red flame patterns and elegant, lively auspicious cloud motifs. The painting features rich, intense colours with striking contrasts among red, blue and orange hues. The lines are elaborate and delicate, the figure’s expression is vividly depicted, and the composition is compact and full, embodying the distinctive style of traditional Tibetan painting. The entire piece is fully hand-painted. Slight variations in brushwork among individual works are normal characteristics of handcrafted artworks.
