Thousand-Handed Avalokiteśvara

Also known as the Great Compassionate Guanyin, the Thousand-Handed Avalokiteśvara is a sublime emanation of Guanyin Bodhisattva, named for her thousand hands and thousand eyes. Buddhist scriptures record that she vowed to deliver all living beings, manifesting forty-two arms with an eye in each palm. Corresponding to the twenty-five realms of existence, these collectively form her thousand hands and thousand eyes, symbolizing her ability to observe the whole world and universally rescue all beings. Holding various ritual implements, she embodies boundless compassion and relieves people of hardships and sufferings. She is a sacred deity revered by both Han and Tibetan Buddhism.
