Zakiram Maiden Mask

This miniature thangka is hand-painted by Regong artists using a double-sided hand-painting technique. One side depicts the wrathful face of a Dharma protector, while the other features a gentle portrait. Fitted with an exquisitely crafted gau box for portable wear, it is ideal for art appreciation, collection and styling decoration. Created following traditional thangka painting techniques, the work is coloured with a rich array of natural mineral pigments, yielding intense and full hues. The wrathful countenance on one side is rendered with sharp, exaggerated lines, and the eyes and brows convey powerful intensity. The gentle portrait on the reverse boasts soft, delicate facial features, with refined and elaborate makeup and ornamental patterns. Auspicious cloud motifs encircle the composition with smooth, flowing lines. The gold embellishments and patterns are intricately detailed. Strong contrasts between warm and cool tones create a full composition rich in narrative appeal. Both sides feature complete paintings executed with neat and delicate brushwork. The entire piece is fully hand-painted. Slight variations in brushwork among individual works are normal characteristics of handcrafted artworks.
